Water expert speaks at SWCC forum Feb. 21
As a result of the severe drought in the Southeastern United States, the struggle to find consensus among conflicting water policies in Florida, Alabama and Georgia will be discussed at the next public forum of the South Walton Community Council on Feb. 21. It will be held at the Coastal Branch Library at 7 p.m.
The speaker is Donn Rodekohr of Auburn University, an agronomy and soils geospatial analyst. His career originated in Nebraska where he was a member of the Nebraska Water Resources Center. Later he shifted to private industry in Colorado, consulting with New Mexico on adjudicating the Rio Grande River.
Rodekohr recently moved to Alabama where he is researching the three dimensional location of water and managing water resources under stressed conditions. His talk is illustrated by an animated PowerPoint presentation.
This program is part of the free, ongoing education series held monthly by the SWCC and open to the public.
