Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge needs helping paws

Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge

The Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge is holding a volunteer recruitment day from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Feb. 9, at the Destin Community Center.

“This is an opportunity to learn about and become involved in ECWR’s mission of conservation and animal rehabilitation,” said Amanda Wilkerson, president of ECWR.

With a record number of wildlife admissions in 2007, volunteers are crucial to ECWR’s success. Opportunities are available for a variety of positions including the marine mammal stranding team and the clinic animal care team. Not all positions involve getting dirty; education programs and fundraising committees also need volunteers.
