CHAN’S WINE OF THE WEEK for March 17: A Super Shiraz

Published: Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 07:50 PM.

Named after the daring person who would set and light charges in the gold mines, this Shotfire Barossa Shiraz 2010 is a serious wine from Thorn Clarke. Its ratings of 90 points from Wine Spectator, 90 points from Wine Enthusiast and 90 points from Wine Advocate, demonstrate it. Its color is deep, and its nose is of spice, chocolate and rich berries. It is plummy on the palate, with additional spices and earthy notes.

There are lots of rich tannins and a super long finish on this well-made wine. Cost is $21.99 per bottle and $19.79 per case.
