George’s at Alys Beach gets a facelift

After five years in business, owners Ann and George Hartley recently announced they have renovated George’s at Alys Beach, their casual dining spot on 30A. The new look includes an expanded kitchen, more seating, and updated interiors that was unveiled this week when the restaurant reopened for the season.

“With five great years under our belts, we decided it was the perfect time to give the restaurant a fluff,” Ann said. “Everything our guests have grown to love about George’s over the years — the people, the food, and the service — won’t change a bit. The design is polished and we hope it will make our guests’ dining experience even better.”

The remodel includes a 1,000-foot kitchen expansion, 40 additional seats including an extension of the covered side patio, new restrooms, and a complete interior facelift. The dining room will boast a more sophisticated look, swapping the brightly-colored accents for a more neutral palette.

Ann and George’s prized frog collection will remain an integral part of the space. The couple has commissioned Atlanta-based artist Anne Lomax to build driftwood mirrors with pieces from the collection woven into the frame. The mirrors will become the focal point of the main dining room.

Renovations were also completed this week, when the restaurant reopened for the season. For more information, visit www.georgesatalysbeach.com.
