15 graduate from Leadership Walton

The recent Leadership Walton graduates worked with two community organizations to provide much needed renovations and critical updates to their facilities.

Leadership Walton class of 2013-14 attended their graduation ceremony on May 28 at LeCiel Resort at Sandestin.  Graduates included Melita Brantley, Grand Boulevard Health & Rehabilitation Center; Camile Burlison, Walton Area Chamber; Dustin Burlison, Walton County Sheriff’s Office; Jasper Carter, Walton County Fire Rescue; Jessica Hathorn, Marriott Sandestin at Grand Blvd.; Paul Holden, Warren Averett; Kaddie King, Carr Riggs & Ingram; Katina Laird; Walton County Tax Collector; Tim Lamica, CHELCO; Richard Martin, Carr Riggs & Ingram; Brian O’Neal, CHELCO Services Inc.; Sarah Schindele, Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance of NWFSC; Lori Smith, Seaside Community Development Corporation; Wilmer Stafford, Walton County; and Robin Wilson, Florida Transformers Inc.

This year, the 2014 Leadership Walton Class chose to work with two community organizations to provide much needed renovations and critical updates to their facilities.  The first project was the Walton County Arc, a community–based organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the second was the South Walton Senior Center.  

The Arc project included renovating a classroom by patching and painting the walls, replacing the old carpet, trim, installing base cabinets, and purchasing a wall mount television for the classroom wall. The South Walton Senior Center Project included updating office furnishings, installing shelving for print material, and providing patio furniture.

Further, each class member was paired a mentor through the Chamber’s BUILD IMPACT program. Mentors include Max Banning, Ben Sibley, Matthew Avery, CHELCO; Steve Wolfrom, CHELCO; Cory Fosdyck, Merrill Lynch; Tim Krueger, Merrill Lynch; Fred Leopold, Community Bank of Destin; Ken Hair, Children in Crisis; Joe Capers, Insurance Zone; Ken Wampler, Newman Dailey Resort Properties; Jeanne Dailey, Newman Dailey Resort Properties; Dan Buckner, The Continental Group; Joan Carter, Carter Enterprise Group; Cory Godwin, Walton County Tax Collector; Ann Kief, Qivana; and Kellie Jo Kilberg, Walton Area Chamber.

IMPACT Mentee graduates included Oris Rintala, Marriott Sandestin at Grand Blvd. and Daniel Walker, Nathan Abbott Team/Resort Quest.

Sal Nodjomian, Matrix Design Group gave the keynote address.
