Caring and Sharing of South Walton County in Santa Rosa Beach will distribute all donations to families. Santa Patrol

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office Santa Patrol, a program in which the community donates toys and money to purchase gifts for local needy children, is in its 15th season and going strong. Those interested in applying for this service will need to arrive between 9 a.m. and noon Nov. 24 at the DeFuniak Springs Civic Center. Applications will be given out on a first come first serve basis. All applicants will be checked for duplication services with other organizations out of fairness to others who are not already receiving assistance. There will be limited childcare provided on site.

Sgt. Danny Garner says that they are accepting new/unopened toys for stockings for donations, as well as money. Checks will be accepted and should be made out to Walmart and “Santa Patrol” written in the note at the bottom of the check.

To donate, call Garner at 850-892-8186.

Charity auction

The items that will be available in the auction include dolphin tours, parasailing, lodging, and more. Tourists and locals alike can take advantage of everything that is offered, which includes destinations from Panama City Beach to Gulf Shores, Ala.
