Dr. Amber Wiebe chosen to teach course

Dr. Amber Wiebe DMD, FAGD, FICOI traveled to Manhattan in New York City to help train dentists, physicians and nurses from all over the world in facial esthetics. As an accomplished instructor and having achieved her Fellowship in the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, she shared her knowledge and experience nationally with medical professionals interested in learning latest techniques in facial fillers and Botox treatments.

Wiebe was asked to teach two full days in Manhattan, which included teaching the most advanced filler and Botox techniques available. She was truly honored and excited for this opportunity, as fillers and Botox research and continuing education is one of the major passions in her career. Teaching the seminars and classes are an opportunity for her to assist her colleagues and most importantly, allow her to bring back her new talents, techniques and education to our area.

Destin Total Laundry’s free pick-up

The Destin Total Laundry Services store now offers free pick-up and delivery service for Destin and South Walton, from the Destin Bridge to Seagrove on Hwy. 30A.

“We will provide the customers free dry cleaning bags and free laundry bags and they can conveniently leave their dry cleaning and laundry for us to pick up and we will pick it up, get it cleaned and return to them,” said owner Steve Harley.

Service is available not only for individuals but also commercial accounts such as resorts, hotels, restaurants, medical and dental offices, massage therapy locations and much more.

Anyone interested in setting up their delivery service should call 376-7907.

2 from DeFuniak graduate from Recruit Academy

Northwest Florida State College recognized students on May 6 who successfully completed the college's Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Academy during the Spring 2014.

Okaloosa County Sheriff, Larry Ashley, addressed the students and spoke of character as they embarked on their law enforcement career.  Local Academy graduates are Victor Goyer and Steven Ward of DeFuniak Springs.

Tax Collector’s Office honored with award

Walton County Tax Collector Rhonda Skipper and her 32 memberteam have been selected by The Florida Sterling Council as a 2014 recipient of the Governor’s SterlingAward, the highest honor in Florida to recognize organizations for performanceexcellence. Skipper will accept the award at the Awards Banquet on May 30.

“This is something we’ve been working toward since taking office in 2005,” said Skipper. “Many people have contributed to this recognition. Our customers who provide us feedback, former team members who have retired, our colleagues in tax collector offices around the state, and other organizations. I am very proud of our team. Each member has contributed to this recognition.”

Green Key Global recognized Tops’l Beach & Racquet Resort with a “3 Green Keys” rating as part of its Green Key Eco-Rating Program which evaluates properties that have made significant advances toward protecting the environment. Properties are recognized with “3 Green Keys” based on strong environmental programs, which implement management practices, training programs, and engineering solutions that benefit the environment and the local community.
