Grit & Grace joins forces with Seaside Rep director
Grit & Grace, the Official Folklife Production of Walton County, has announced it is joining forces with the Seaside Rep’s Executive Director, Brook Stetler, to present the 2014 show, “A Dreaming Place.”
Through Stetler’s direction, Walton County’s rich oral history will come to life onstage with new faces, renewed energy and sense of purpose. This year, Grit & Grace will showcase its original play production to audiences in the South Walton and Freeport areas, as well as DeFuniak Springs.
Final auditions will take place June 14 from 12-3 p.m. at the Coastal Branch Library at Santa Rosa Beach.

Alex R. Astin earns academic honor
Alex R. Astin of Santa Rosa Beach was named to the Dean’s List at Piedmont College after completing the recent spring semester with a grade-point average of 3.55 to 3.99.
Piedmont College is an independent liberal arts college of about 2,600 students with campuses located in Demorest and Athens, Ga. Founded in 1897, Piedmont offers undergraduate degrees in 50 major areas, master’s degrees in education and business, and doctoral degrees in education.
David Simons named to Dean’s List
David Simons, 15,of DeFuniak Springs, was recently named to the Dean’s List for Academic Achievement at Elmira College for the Spring 2014 Term. He is currently studying psychology and business administration.
ElmiraCollege is a private, coeducational, liberal arts college founded in 1855, in Elmira, N.Y. The College has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 1,200 full-time students, of which 12 percent are valedictorians or salutatorians of their high schools or preparatory schools. Students come from 35 states and more than 20 countries.
Bryan Holloway graduates from Georgia College
Bryan Holloway from Santa Rosa Beach earned a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English from Georgia College during the spring commencement ceremonies.
Georgia College, the state’s designated public liberal arts university, combines the educational experience expected at esteemed private liberal arts colleges with the affordability of public higher education.
