Driver license suspensions issued in error

Some Florida drivers have been issued a driver license suspension in error by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, including some Walton County drivers. The error occurred as the agency transitioned to a new insurance verification system.

The license records affected by the error are systematically being restored. Citizens receiving an insurance suspension letter dated after March 31, 2014 can check the status of their license online using DHSMV’s website at or call the Tax Collector’s Office to verify the issue has been corrected.

“We want to minimize the inconvenience to our customers as much as possible. We encourage them to check the online record and call our office in the event the error has not been corrected,” said Rhonda Skipper, tax collector.

For additional information, please contact the Walton County Tax Collector’s Office at 850-892-8121.
