Many of us have gone through the storms of life, but God can, and does, turn it around. Just ask Destin’s Dee Chernicky.

“At one time in my life I remember having nothing but poverty, pain and heartache,” Chernicky told The Log. “Now I’m blessed to be a blessing. I’m on the other side of the storm and I want to be the light that shines in the lives for others to make their way. I am humbled to be where I am, considering where I’ve been.”

Chernicky, a wife, mother, author and business entrepreneur, is a graduate of Victory Bible Institute in Tulsa, Okla., founder of One Heart One Voice Ministries, and the host of the Shine On Women’s and Teen’s Conference. She has been a licensed and ordained minister since 2009 through Destiny Worship Center in Miramar Beach, and also serves on the Advisory Board of Christian Women in Media and Sharing Hands Network.

After doing ministry work for more than 20 years, Chernicky began the Dee Chernicky Ministries in 2009 “to restore, refresh and empower others so that they will accomplish their dreams and the desired destiny of a joyful and blessed life.”

That ministry will now host a new monthly community outreach, One Heart One Voice Women, which will meet every month from 10 a.m. to noon at The Palms of Destin, 4201 Indian Bayou Trail in Destin. The first meeting will be Aug. 22, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. and free childcare provided with online reservation. All services are free, with an offering to be taken.

“There will be live worship along with local and national guest speakers coming to teach God’s Word each month,” Chernicky said. “I will speak at our first meeting and lay the foundation for the vision and mission that God has given me for His women. I believe the women of God are hungry and want to grow deeper in the things of God. And for that reason, we have been raised up for such a time as this.”

The vision of this outreach is to “see the hearts of women grow and become wholly devoted and passionate followers of our Lord Jesus Christ,” she said. “… for all women of God to walk in the plans and purposes that He foreknew and predestined as He chose those to become like his Son.” (Romans 8:29)
