Part-time Destin resident Gail Pallotta signed a copy of her teen novel, “Stopped Cold,” for Jannine and Greg Garner at Sundog Books in Seaside on Sunday, July 13.

The inspirational novel finished fourth in the 16th Annual Preditors and Editors Readers Poll last year and was a finalist for the 2013 Grace Awards, given to books of excellence presenting a Christian world view. Those judging the entries said, “In ‘Stopped Cold’, Ms. Pallotta utilized marvelous word imagery, unique metaphors, and dealt with timely topics.”

Comments from the 16th Annual Preditors and Editors Readers Poll included “One of the best books recently published dealing with self-esteem, drugs and the drive to be #1 at any cost. A must read for the young athlete and the family.”

The message of the book is: We don’t have to be number one for God to love us.
