Master Gardeners award scholarships

The Walton County Master Gardeners recently presented two local students with $1,000 scholarships. 

Alex Eaton, who will attend the University of Florida at the Milton Campus pursuing a degree in golf and sports turf management, received his check and certificate at the Master Gardeners Association meeting in June.  He currently works at Blackstone Golf Course in Mossy Head and will continue there while attending UF. He is pictured with MG Scholarship committee members Shirley Carroll, Carolynn Jones, Paula Tutwiler, Alex Eaton, Pat August and Jo Miller.)

Gordon Porter, scholarship recipient for the second year in a row, was interning in North Carolina and was unable to attend the meeting. Paula Tutwiler (pictured) presented his check and certificate in early July. He attends Florida Gateway College in Lake City pursuing a degree in golf and landscape operations. He has completed his first year earning an Applied Technology Degree in Turf Equipment Technology.
