Sheriff Mike Adkinson recently met with Colonel (ret) Mike Prendergast, executive director with the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Both spoke about the necessity of supporting our retirees and former service members in getting them the benefits they have earned as a result of their military service.

Florida holds the third largest veteran population in the nation and many military vets leave service and enter the workforce as law enforcement professionals. Prendergast felt by connecting to our law enforcement communities it would be instrumental in helping Florida veterans find the information they need to access benefits and services more effectively.

Adkinson said, “We honor our military veterans and their families. We are grateful for their service in the military and now in law enforcement. My staff and I stand firmly in support of our military veterans and look forward to working with the FDVA to make this effort happen.”
