Monthly meetings to support families affected by Alzheimer's

The Friendship House, Brain Disorder Support Foundation, announces a new monthly support group for families affected by Alzheimer’s Disease. As a member of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, and the recipient of the new state of Florida Alzheimer’s Specialty Care License for Adult Day Centers, they are pleased to provide this additional support service for caregivers.

Meetings will be monthly for approximately one hour, and will offer respite care for Alzheimer’s patients if needed. Each meeting will provide a time for new information and resources as well as a time for sharing group concerns and solutions. There is no charge for participation and no advance registration is required. However, if respite care is needed, please call in advance to be sure adequate caregivers are available. 

The first meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Friendship House, 353 Juniper Lake Road in DeFuniak Springs. Friendship House provides respite care for Alzheimer’s patients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with a program of activities especially designed to meet the needs of Alzheimer’s patients from earliest to latest stages.
