Florida State Society Daughters of the American Revolution will welcome the newest chapter in Destin on Feb. 8. The geographic focus of this chapter will include Destin, Miramar Beach, Sandestin, Santa Rosa Beach, Niceville and Freeport.

Florida State Second Vice Regent Dawn Lemongello will install the Organizing Officers — Cynthia Wilson, organizing regent; Susan VanderZeyde, vice regent; Florence Perk, recording secretary; Mary Brummett, chaplain; Lindsey Anderson, corresponding secretary; Margaret Nichols, treasurer; Melissa Young, registrar; and Nancy Welhart, librarian.

New members will be admitted into the DAR and will take their Oath of Membership into the Society at the Organizing Meeting. They will promise faithful loyalty to the bylaws of the national (NSDAR) and state (FSSDAR) societies and their chapter. They will also promise to faithfully uphold the Constitution of the United States, to respect the Flag of the United States and to promote the objectives of the National Society.

Membership in the NSDAR is a unique opportunity to honor one’s lineage and heritage as a descendant of an American Revolution patriot.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history and support better education for our nation's children. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. With more than 165,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations.
