Sen. Don Gaetz visits Butler
Senate President Don Gaetz recently visited the fourth graders at Van R. Butler Elementary to discuss their experiences at the E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center.The students presented the lessons they had learned from visiting the center and taking part in activities designed to promote conservation of the biodiversity in Northwest Florida’s longleaf pine ecosystem. Acting as advocates for the center’s mission of education and conservation, the students described their personal experiences and explained the benefit that the center provides to the local ecosystem and several injured animals that call it home.The students also showed their lobbying skills as they requested that the Senator support Federal Restore Act funds being allocated to the center for present and future programs.
