South Walton Tour of Homes May 18

l.gall & company, in conjunction with Alaqua Animal Refuge, has announced the inaugural South Walton Tour of Homes,  featuring eight exquisite South Walton homes, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 for those whose love of art, interior design, landscaping and architecture will be rewarded with the self-guided tour.

The inaugural event will benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge.

Eight distinct and diverse homes and condos, from Miramar Beach to Rosemary Beach, will be featured on the tour. Local interior design firms served on a panel and after much careful consideration, hand-selected the eight properties that will be featured on the tour.

The proceeds from the self-guided annual tour benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge and Alaqua’s Unleashed Dog Park, both located in Walton County. Alaqua Animal Refuge, a nonprofit organization, advocates the general welfare and humane treatment of animals by providing shelter, prevention of pet overpopulation and adoption services. Located on 10 acres in the city of Freeport, the refuge was formed by resident and animal activist, Laurie Hood, in 2007 when she discovered that countless animals were being euthanized due to the lack of a no-kill shelter/adoption organization in the area. Since that time, Alaqua Animal Refuge has helped find homes for more than 8,000 animals. Currently, up to 100 animals are adopted per month from this unique rescue facility, which serves as a true refuge for more than 250 animals at any given time. It costs approximately $50,000/month to maintain and operate the facility.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event and can be purchased online and at various local businesses.
