The girls worked many hours this summer grocery bagging and fundraising for new uniforms and camp fees so they could attend the National Cheerleaders Association camp held at Florida State University July 28-31. The team worked hard at summer practices, gave 110 percent every day and put their heart and soul in their camp performances and it showed.  The team received the following awards at camp:

Top Team/Small Varsity — Top Team, superior ribbon, is the highest award given for overall excellence.

The Herkie Team Award — This award is named after the founder of NCA and is awarded to the squad which exemplifies leadership, values, teamwork and sportsmanship. This award is chosen by the NCA staff and is only given to one team who exemplifies these qualities throughout the entire camp.

Spirit Stick Winner — Presented to the squad showing the most sincere spirit and enthusiasm each day. The team’s overall cooperation, discipline, leadership, safety and respect for one another and other teams is considered. SWHS was presented with the spirit stick all four days at camp.

Technical Excellence — This award is given for displaying superior skills and proper technique in stunting during the NCA evaluation.

Bid to NCA Nationals — This tremendous accomplishment is awarded to the teams exemplifying the best technical skills and techniques as well as positive attitude and sportsmanship. The bid is extended to teams to compete at the NCA High School National Championship.
