What started as a plan to donate at least $200 a year to the Snowbird Scholarship Fund at SWHS for one student in need, quickly grew into what is now, two $1,000 scholarships.  Vivek Likhite, and the Walton County Snowbirds, recognized the need for a scholarship that can be used not only for a college or university but also a vocational/trade school. This scholarship truly gives all deserving students a chance to pursue their goals.

This year the members provided two one $1,000 scholarships. The board members approved criteria for applicants, then a SWHS panel evaluated the applications. Two senior recipients were selected. The first recipient was Ashley Brackett who plans to attend the University of West Florida Honors College and major in nursing. The other was Marissa Waddell who plans to attend Northwest Florida State College and major in nursing. The Walton County Snowbirds, Inc., provided these students with a good start toward fulfilling their life goals.

The Walton County Snowbirds, Inc., with more than 2,000 members, has been helping students at South Walton High School pursue their dreams since 2009.
