Those who are into eating healthy or need something to grab and go when hungry will be happy to know that Everkrisp owners Brendan and Ashley McMahon have opened a restaurant at Grand Boulevard.
This is the second location in the area for the restaurant. The first opened in Destin last year.
Ashley is from a restaurant family. Her family owned and operated Flamingo Café in Destin for many years, and her brother recently opened Boshamp's Seafood & Oyster Bar in the same location. Brendan owns the fine-dining restaurant Beuchert's Saloon in Washington, D.C.
"We would come home and could not fulfill our need for fresh, healthy food when on the go," said Ashley, of the impetus that led to the opening of Everkrisp.
Everkrisp's concept is a fast, casual approach to healthy food, she said.
The menu offers custom made-to-order salads, grain bowls and soups.
Choose from a choice of five varieties of lettuce and 20 different condiments.
Grain bowls offer a choice of three grains, rice and quinoa.
Soups change daily. Some are gluten free. The most popular has been sweet potato made with maple yogurt.
To go with the salads or soups, Everkrisp offers a variety of breads baked in house such as rosemary and multi-grain.
Even though a healthy eatery, who doesn't crave cookies? Everkrisp offers a variety of cookies made in house.
"Everything is made to order using local ingredients," said Ashley.
Everkrisp is open daily from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. for eat in or carry out. Wine and beer are available.
