Saturday, Jan. 4

First Saturday at Biophilia: Become a Mad Scientist from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with foggy dry ice storms, giant beach balls floating in the air, and even a special Mad Science “burp” potion. Shows are at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Also encounter live animals throughout the day. Admission is $8/adults and $3/children. Under 2 are free. Call 835-1824.

Music concert: AnAmericana Under the Oaks Music Concert with Lucky Mud will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Jan. 11 and 25 in the Lodge at Camp Helen State Park, 23937 Panama City Beach Parkway in Panama City Beach. Free admission into the park. Donations accepted. Refreshments available.  Call 233-5059.

Nature walk: Take a walk in nature with wildlife expert and ecologist Joe Wyatt at 9 a.m. at Hammock Bay, west of Freeport. Suitable for all ages. The trail system includes a bat house, purple martin houses, many bluebird houses, a wood duck house, a butterfly house and more. Call 496-1864.

History walk: Learn about the early history of the park and local area at Camp Helen State Park’s history walk from 10-10:45 a.m. The tour is free with paid park admission fee of $4 per vehicle. Call 233-5059.

Artist Bazaar: Artists at Gulf Place presents its Artist Bazaar from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Artists at Gulf Place green in the center of the Gulf Place loop. Bazaar features local artists, craftspeople and artisan vendors, interactive activities for children, and a free hot dog for those who make a purchase.

Seaside Farmers Market: Get your pick of fresh produce, baked goods, dairy products, native plants and other unique offerings Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Amphitheatre behind Raw & Juicy. Enjoy special cooking demos and activities.

 

Sunday, Jan. 5

Brunch with Matt Hall: Matt Hall takes the stage at 10 a.m. during brunch at Marie’s Bistro, 2260 W. Hwy. 30A in Blue Mountain Beach.

Jabbo and Krissa: Enjoy the music at 9 p.m. at Cabana Café, 112 Seascape Blvd. in Miramar Beach.

Sunday Brunch: Enjoy brunch and the music of The Steenos from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stinky’s Fish Camp, 5994 County Road 30A in Santa Rosa Beach.

Beach Service: Worship at the beach with Hope Lutheran Church at 8 a.m. at Ed Walline Beach Access across from Gulf Place on Scenic Hwy. 30A in Santa Rosa Beach. Bring a towel, chair, or stand on the boardwalk. The service will be held at the church’s U.S. 98 campus during inclement weather and if the temperature is below 50 degrees. Call 267-0322.

30A Farmers’ Market: This community event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Town Center in Rosemary Beach features fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, honey, cheese and more.

 

Monday, Jan. 6

Democratic Party: The Walton County Democratic Party will hold an Executive Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Life Enrichment Senior Center, 312 College Ave. in DeFuniak Springs.

Billy Garrett: Enjoy the music of Billy Garrett from 7-10 p.m. at Shorty’s Surfside & Topside, 63 Hotz Ave. in Grayton Beach.

Baytowne on Ice: Ice skate at the rink at The Village of Baytowne Wharf from 3-9 p.m. Skate for an hour and a half for $11 with skate rental $2. The first hour is reserved for “kids skate,” youth 12 and under.

 

Tuesday, Jan. 7

Support group: A Bereavement Support Group, hosted by Emerald Coast Hospice, will be held from 1-2 p.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480N County Hwy. 393 in Santa Rosa Beach.

Americana Under The Stars: Lucky Mud hosts a family/pet friendly concert series, Americana Under the Stars, from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 9 in the amphitheater at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach. Bring a chair and beverage. Free admission into park and a suggested donation of $5 goes to the Friends of Topsail Hill.

The Winter Guest Fest will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Emerald Coast Convention Center Ballroom. Admission is $1. Once known as the Senior Snowbird Expo, the event is packed with coupons, giveaways and surprises for all.
