Biophilia in Bloom: E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center in Freeport will host a public event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3 with arts and crafts, gardening activities, cooking demos, beekeeping, gardening tips, a butterfly walk and more. Friday, May 2

Cajun Crawfish Bash: The Rotary Club of Destin will present a “Cajun Crawfish Bash” at 5:30 p.m. at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin to benefit Food For Thought, Harvest House and the Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast. Resurrecting van Gogh: Emerald Coast Theatre Company presents “Resurrecting van Gogh,” a new solo performance piece based on the life, work and writings of Andy Martin, at 7:30 p.m. at 216 Quincy Circle in Seaside. Tickets are $15/adults and $8/students. Proceeds benefit Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast’s Arts in Medicine Program. Call 231-0733.

First Friday Artwalk: Enjoy live music and view works of art and artist demos from 5-8 p.m. at the galleries and shops of Ruskin Place and select Central Square merchants.

Jabbo, Krissa: Enjoy the music at 8 p.m. at the Cabana Café, 112 Seascape Blvd. in Miramar Beach.

Wine tasting: Taste three white and three red wines plus a gourmet tapas plate from 4-6 p.m. at Wild Olives, 104 N. Barrett Square in Rosemary Beach. Cost is $25/person.


Saturday, May 3

Cinco de Mayo: Cantina Laredo Food presents its sixth annual celebration from 5-11 p.m. at Grand Park in Grand Boulevard. Enjoy live music, food, drinks, door prizes and displays by various Grand Boulevard stores. Event is free.

Garden Mart: The Destin Garden Club will have a Plant Sale & Garden Mart from 8 a.m. to noon on the grounds of the Destin Library, 150 Siebert Ave. All proceeds go to the landscaping and education funds at the Destin Library. 

Gospel music: Several groups and individuals will provide inspirational music from 2-6 p.m. in the amphitheater in the Lakeyard in DeFuniak Springs. Admission is free and food vendors available.

Peddlers Alley: Crafts, custom items, homemade products, plants and more will be available from 8 a.m. to noon in the alleyways between Baldwin and Nelson Avenues in DeFuniak Springs. A historic walking tour will be held from 12-2 p.m. Call 892-6066.

Job Fair: The holiday town of Seaside will host a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Seaside Assembly Hall located across the lawn from Seaside Neighborhood School on Smolian Circle. Employers will be on hand with a list of job openings for part-time, full-time and seasonal positions in the areas of hospitality, retail, recreation, swim and tennis, restaurant, maintenance and others.

Yard sale: The Women’s Group of Community Church of Santa Rosa Beach will host a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church parking lot, 3524 US Hwy. 98 West. All proceeds will benefit mission efforts.

St. Agatha’s Breakfast: Breakfast Cooked to Order will be held from 7-11 a.m. in the Parish Hall at St. Agatha’s Episcopal Church, 150 Circle Drive in DeFuniak Springs. Cost is $5.50/adults and $2.50/children under 10. Proceeds benefit the church and its food ministry. The historic church will be open for tours.

Music concert: The last free concert forAmericana Music at the Lodge features Carly Bak at 6:30-8 p.m. in the Lodge at Camp Helen State Park, 23937 P C Beach Parkway in Panama City Beach. Donations to the Friends of Camp Helen are requested for admission and refreshments. Call 233-5059.

Grayton Bar & Grill: Enjoy the music of Forrest Williams Band from 8-11 p.m. May 3 and 7 at Grayton Bar & Grill in Santa Rosa Beach.

Jazz on the Lawn: Listen to an eclectic group of jazz artists at 5 p.m. at the Seaside Amphitheater. Event is free and open to the public.

Pandora’s Music: Pandora’s Steakhouse of Grayton Beach presents Nick and the Overalls, May 3; Blue Ribbon Healers, May 4; Dave Posey & Friends, May 6; and Cadillac Willy, May 7. Music begins at 9 p.m., is free and open to all guests at least 21 years of age. 

Adventure Club: Bike ride at 10 a.m. in South Walton County on the 30-A Bike Path. Meet at Ed Walline Beach Access Park at the intersection of CR 393 and 30-A. Lunch along the bike path. Call 581-4591.


Sunday, May 4

Beach Service: Worship at the beach with Hope Lutheran Church at 8 a.m. at Ed Walline Beach Access across from Gulf Place on Scenic Hwy. 30A in Santa Rosa Beach. Bring a towel, chair, or stand on the boardwalk. The service will be held at the church’s U.S. 98 campus during inclement weather and if the temperature is below 50 degrees. Call 267-0322.

Crawfish Boil: To celebrate its first anniversary, Grayton Bar & Grill in Santa Rosa Beach will hold a Crawfish Boil beginning at noon. Cost is $25/person for crawfish, new potatoes and corn.

Cinco de Mayo: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a free block party from 2-7 p.m. in the courtyard at La Cocina Mexican Grill and Bar, 10343 East County Hwy. 30A in Seacrest Beach. Events include a DJ, face painting, family friendly games, drink specials and specialty plates. Specials will be offered in-restaurant from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. May 5.


Monday, May 5

Free skin screenings: Coastal Skin Surgery and Dermatology supports American Academy of Dermatology’s nationwide efforts to raise awareness of melanoma and other types of skin cancer by offering free skin cancer screenings from 1-4 p.m. in their office, 12469 Emerald Coast Parkway in Miramar Beach. They will accept walk-ins and people of all ages.  

Dream Band: Sing and dance to every song at 9 p.m. at John Wehner’s Village Door, 136 Fisherman’s Cove in Baytowne Wharf.

Run 30A:  Run with a group along 30A in the Santa Rosa Beach area at 6 p.m. Mondays for distances from 3-6 miles. Run begins at Ed Walline beach access with socializing after at Pizza by the Sea Gulf Place.


Tuesday, May 6

Kids Rock The Block: A rockin’ night of fun with moonwalks, face painting, airbrush tattoos, arts and crafts, music, hula hoops, games, prizes and more from 6-8 p.m. on the Western Green in Rosemary Beach.

Office hours: Walton County District 4 County Commissioner Sara Comander will hold office hours beginning at 9 a.m. at the South Walton Annex. To schedule an appointment, call 835-4834.

Redd Sings: Redd the Singing Bartender, who slings and sings from a song list of more than 400 songs, performs at 6 p.m. at Redd’s Fueling Station, 2320 W. County Hwy. 30A in Santa Rosa Beach.


Wednesday, May 7

Dine for FFT: Eat at Cantina Laredo at Grand Boulevard from 5-10 p.m. and Food For Thought will receive 10 percent of night’s restaurant sales. Sign in at host stand.

Wednesday Night Concert Series: A free concert features Blue Ribbon Healers from 7-9 p.m. in the Events Plaza at The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Call 267-8186.


Thursday, May 8

Down South Dinner: Bud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant in Seaside will host a special pre-fixe wine dinner at 7 p.m. featuring a menu by celebrity chef and author Donald Link of New Orleans. Tickets for the four-course dinner are $125/person, including tax, gratuity and a copy of Link’s book. Proceeds will benefit Food for Thought. Purchase tickets at 231-5900.

Americana Under The Stars: Bring a chair, a beverage and enjoy the music of Aerial Melvin and the Boys at 6 p.m. in the amphitheater at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach. Open mic begins the evening. Free admission into park and a suggested donation of $5 goes to the Friends of Topsail Hill. Food available for purchase.

Concerts in the Village: MKAF presents The Molly Ringwalds, 80’s experience band, at 7 p.m. May 8 at the Dugas Pavilion at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. Bring a picnic and wine or beverage of choice, or purchase meal from local restaurant prepared on-site. Admission is $10/adult and children under 12 and MKAF members are free. Call 650-2226.


Friday, May 9

UF/IFAS celebration: To celebrate 100 years, workshops/seminars, displays and an open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 732 N. 9th Ave. in DeFuniak Springs and May 14 at 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach. Call 892-8172.

Topsail tour: Paddle Campbell Lake from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the heart of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. No outside canoes or kayaks are allowed on the lake so space is limited to 10 people for each trip. Sign up in the ranger station.

Emerald Warrior: Air Force Special Operations Command will host Emerald Warrior through May 9. Residents may see an increase in military activity in their area to include a higher than usual number of military vehicles and aircraft noise during the nighttime hours and hear simulated munitions fire.
