Community Clean Up
District 4 Commissioner Sara Comander will sponsor Community Clean Up Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Choctaw Beach Park on State Road 20 in the Choctaw Beach community. Dumpsters provided for Walton County residents to dump trash, yard debris, tires, appliances, and other miscellaneous items.

Baytowne on Ice
The ice skating rink at The Village of Baytowne Wharf will be open through Jan. 31 at the Apex Broadcasting Skating Pavilion. For $10 guests can skate for an hour and a half. Skate rental is $2. The first hour of each day is reserved for "kids skate" for youth 12 and under. Season passes are available for $140. Telluride Mountain Film Festival

Identifying the invader
The Walton County Master Gardeners present the ninth lecture in a series for local gardeners from 10-11:30 a.m. at the UofFL/Walton Coastal Branch Extension Office, 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach. Sheila Dunning, a University of FL/Okaloosa County Extension Horticulture Agent, will educate attendees about invasive species from both the animal and plant kingdoms in our area. The public is invited to take part in three public workshops to discuss beach activities ordinance, regulating bottles, dogs, driving, and more on our beaches. The first will be held Nov. 7 at 10 a.m., or soon thereafter, at the Walton County Courthouse Annex, the second will be Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Walton County Courthouse in DeFuniak Springs, and the third will be Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. at the Walton County Courthouse Annex.
