BBQ and bake sale

A Methodist Men’s BBQ sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Point Washington United Methodist Church, 1290 N. Hwy. 395. The women will hold a bake sale at the same time.

 

Monday, Aug. 2

 

Groovin’ On The Green

The Carillon Beach Institute presents a free concert with Jones and Company from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Village Green in Carillon Beach. Bring chairs or blankets, a cooler and snacks. Call 234-7819.

 

Stories by the Sea
The Seaside Repertory Theatre presents one-of-a-kind storytelling experiences for children of all ages at 4 p.m. Monday through Fridays in the Lyceum Gateway Arch in Central Square.

 

Tuesday, Aug. 3

 

Community meeting

The City of DeFuniak Springs will hold a community meeting to get input from the community regarding a skate park and give general information on requirements to participate at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center, 361 North 9th St.

 

National Night Out

A celebration of National Night Out will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Freeport Sports Complex at Hammock Bay. Bring a school supply item to support the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center. Events include chin up competition, rock climbing wall, McGruff the Crime Dog and free giveaways. Concessions will be available.

 

Rain Barrel Workshop

CBA will offer a Rain Barrel Workshops from 10 am. to noon. at 70 Logan Lane at the Walton County Extension Office in Grayton Beach. Call 267-1888 to register. Fee is $40 and includes barrel and fittings.

 

Le Grand Cirque

Featuring more than 40 champion acrobats and performers from Brazil, Canada, Russia, Mongolia, Europe and China, Le Grand Cirque at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach will continue throughout the summer. Wednesday, Aug. 4

 

Seaside Summer Concert Series
The Seaside Summer Concert Series presents Benjy Davis Project at 7p.m. at the Seaside Amphitheater.

 

Wednesday Night Concert

Enjoy a free concert with Ben Deignan from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Plaza on main stage at The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin.

Rosemary Beach

A Children’s Theatre presentation, “Shakespeare’s The Tempest,” will be presented by The Rep Theatre at 6:30 p.m. on North Barrett Square. Call 278-2900.

 

Florida Trail Association

Hike in downtown Pensacola at 6 p.m. with dinner following. Call 207-7390.

 

Music in Grand Park

Local musician and performer Cheryl Jones plays from 5 to 8 p.m. in Grand Park at Grand Boulevard. Concerts are free and open to the public. Bring a chair or blanket. Grand Boulevard at Sandestin is at the entrance to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

 

Thursday, Aug. 5

 

Sunset Cinema

Watch a free movie, Bee Movie, under the stars at 8 p.m. at Baytowne Wharf.

 

Moonlight and Movies

Enjoy a Hollywood classic or new release under the stars at 8:15 p.m. on the Western Green in Rosemary Beach. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair. Movies are free and open to the public. Concessions are available. Call 951-2148.      

 

Friday, Aug. 6

 

Patrons Dinner

The 14th annual Florida Scallop & Music Festival begins with a Patrons Dinner at 6 p.m. at School of Fish restaurant. The dinner features five courses for $45/per person, excluding tax and gratuity, and a cash bar. To make reservations, call 229-1122.

 

Scallop & Music Festival

The 2010 Florida Scallop & Music Festival will be held Aug. 6–8 in downtown Port St. Joe. 

 

Art in Public Places 

The Beaches of South Walton Tourist Development Council and Friends of Coastal Branch Library present Art in Public Places featuring the artwork of 2010 Artist of the Year, Michael Granberry, during the month of August at the Coastal Branch Library. Pro Arte Chorale

    Topsail tours

    Learn about the habitat of the dolphins, what they eat and which ones can be seen in Florida, at 1:30 p.m. at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach. A $6 park entrance fee is required. Call 267-8330.

     

    Food donations

    Shelter House is collecting donations of unopened, canned and non-perishable food items that summer tourists may have left over after their stay on the Emerald Coast. Food donations will be used to feed the women and children who stay in the emergency shelter. Donations may be dropped off at 102 Buck Drive in Fort Walton Beach or 78 Lynn Drive in Santa Rosa Beach.
