Foods grown locally are yummy

The Walton Sun

The second annual Farm Dinner at WaterColor's Baithouse Sunday night was an interesting meal I enjoyed along with Gary Serafin, Bill Sabella, Tammy Massey, Justin Gaffrey, and Anne Hunter. All items were locally harvested. Jaie O'banner was a charming host.

Visit Café Bouchee in Seagrove and order the Belgian waffles with pecans for breakfast, then return for lunch and dinner. You won't be disappointed.

Congratulations to Digital Graffiti Winner Bryan Beasley of Santa Rosa Beach, winner of the $1,000 prize for Best Local Submission with "Shine of the Ever."

Reed Waddle has a new video out. He credits Shane Sauer and his students at Niceville High School for capturing the concert on video as he shared the stage with The All American Rejects.

Reed performed June 25 in New York City as a member of the New York Songwriters Circle, sharing the stage with John Oates, Phoebe Snow and Jesse Harris.

Cody Copeland and Donnie Sundal both held CD release parties this week.

Turtle nests 10, 11 and 12 were found last week and one false crawl.

Nikki Nickerson was in Providence, R.I., last week, enjoying cooler temps.

Ada Barnes traveled to Birmingham.

Brett Wheeler was in Dallas.

Susan Gongos is home from her travels.

DuRee Stewart's son, Aaron, was here last weekend visiting from Georgia.

Two of Chick Huettel's grandsons visited for Father's Day, one age 9 and the other 7. For GrandFather's Day, they put roly-polys in Chick's bed, which he discovered around 2:30 a.m.

Ladie Bea and Wayne Carlisle were blessed with a five-day visit over Father's Day weekend by Kendrick, Wayne's daughter. They took her to three favorite eateries: FIRE, Sally's Backside and WaterSound Beach Club. Kendrick invited two former college roommates and sorority sisters, all having just celebrated the BIG 30, along with husbands, mother, father, brother, etc., for a pool party. Wayne and Ladie Bea prepared a feast of barbecued ribs, potato salad, slaw, corn on the cob, fruit salad, cupcakes and margaritas, with an estimated gallon consumed. Wayne said catching up with children now willing to "tell all," can be disquieting. "There are certain things parents just don't need to know 10 years after the fact. Having the house, once again filled with 'children's' laughter is a beautiful experience, of which you can never get enough."

I agree.

Nelson Rice and Karen White celebrated another birthday this week.

Wish a happy birthday today to Albert Butler and Reed Waddle.

Tomorrow to Don Goodrum and Jim Bagby.

Monday to Jessica Profitt.

Tuesday to Claire Bannerman and Kevin Moran.

And Thursday to Kriss Titus and Steve Brewer.

Sympathy is extended to Ray and Vickie Dollar and Roy and Jo Ann Dollar in the death of Ray and Roy's mom, Margaret Dollar, and to Pat Braunstien in the death of her mother.

THIS WEEKS POLL
Should Walton County lower the speed limit on 30A to 35 mph?
Yes. We need to keep the speed limit low so everyone can enjoy the view.
Yes. This would allow for low speed vehicles to traverse the roadways.
No. This road is already over-crowded and dangerous.
No. I don't want to be stuck behind someone on a golf cart.
Who cares?
