One of the entertainers in the Destin community who gives back to the community year after year is David Seering.

“I try very hard to be as charitable as I can with the talent God has given me,” Seering told The Log. “I have always been a believer that you have to give back what was given to you.”

Seering performs his third concert for Children in Crisis at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at Village Baptist Church in Destin.

At last year’s concert, $24,000 was raised for CIC when Seering performed a tribute to Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond. All proceeds from the concerts are donated to help feed, clothe and care for the foster children living at the CIC Children’s Neighborhood.

“David has a real compassion for children in need of a safe, loving home,” said Ken Hair, president and CEO of CIC. “He never asks for anything for the donation of his talents except that the community attends the concert and supports the children.”

Children In Crisis is special to Seering, and the concert this year holds particular significance.

“My father was placed in a foster home at the age of four,” Seering said, “As a result of his adoption, over the years I have been able to really appreciate his stories of how his adopted parents made a tremendous difference in his life. This year I will pay tribute to my dad who we lost in October.”
