“It's nice to see the community come together and be Irish for a day,” said Paul Vizard, the founder and organizer of the event.
SANTA ROSA BEACH — It wasn't St. Patrick's Day, but people still had a good reason to wear green for Saturday's 10th Annual 30A St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival at Gulf Place.
There was a little bit of everything: live music, dancers, a bouncy house, green beer and food.
“It’s nice to see the community come together and be Irish for a day,” said Paul Vizard, the founder and organizer of the event. “It’s growing and getting better each year.”
The Whatley family came out and made a special day for the kids.
“We actually live down the road and decided to come out for the kids,” said Kara Whatley, the mother of a 7-year-old and a 2-year-old.
Kara said the weather was perfect to enjoy the live music and to let the kids run around and have fun.
“There are a lot of kids out today who they can socialize with,” she said.
Taking advantage of a vacation day were Gail Hasan and her 16-year-old daughter Ariana of Santa Rosa Beach.
“We like to celebrate every holiday, including St. Patrick’s Day,” Gail said. “The music and atmosphere ... it’s just great to be out today,”
Ariana couldn’t get over how creative people got with their costumes and the way they dressed up their pets.
“We love St. Patrick’s Day, especially the dogs with St. Patrick’s costumes," she said. "It was just an icing on the cake.”
