Suspect from Santa Rosa Beach faces multiple charges including first-degree premeditated murder.
DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A Walton County man was arrested for murder Monday after DeFuniak Springs Police found a woman dead inside of a home.
Police responded to 57 N. 10th St. just after 6 p.m. Monday in reference to a caller reporting a possible murder.
Officers checked inside the home and found a dead female, according to a press release from DeFuniak Springs Police.
Detectives determined that 36-year-old Stephen Anthony Taylor of Santa Rosa Beach was responsible for the death and immediately relayed information to surrounding agencies, the release said.
At approximately 8 p.m., Taylor was arrested at the Burger King in DeFuniak Springs without incident.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and State Attorney’s Office for the 1st Judicial Circuit are assisting in the ongoing investigation, according to the press release.
Taylor was later transported to the Walton County Jail and charged with grand theft between $5,000 and $10,000, burglary with assault or battery and first-degree premeditated murder. He currently is being held without bond.
