Last month's opening of Kinnucan’s in Grand Boulevard, Sandestin, may provide a good sunny day shopping excursion.

The specialty outfitter, based in Auburn, Alabama, offers apparel and brands that appeal to our Florida lifestyle.

“As Kinnucan’s continued to expand throughout the Southeast, we knew we wanted to be in the state of Florida. The Destin and South Walton area made sense geographically, but more so, the area around Grand Boulevard has been growing at such a fast rate we really wanted to be a part of that growth,” said Bobby Lake, president of Kinnucan’s.

Fort Walton Beach hosts its annual and free July Fourth event, creating a great family oriented afternoon, starting at 4 p.m. Tuesday and culminating with fireworks at the Landing at 8:45 p.m.

“We did partner with Community Broadcasters,” said City of Fort Walton Beach Recreation Coordinator Tiffiny Corcoran. “We do have a bunch of volunteers with the Gathering Church” who will assist in the children’s area, open from 4-8:30 p.m.

Vendors will be at the Landing, with food and drink available for purchase, and a band will provide live entertainment.

Best of all, EC Rider offers free shuttle service from both city hall and Uptown Station parking lots.

“Parking is such a bear downtown,” Corcoran added, and the 5-10 p.m. shuttles will make the day better.
