A new addition to Grand Boulevard in their new expanded section on the west side is Kinnucan's Specialty Outfitter.
Based in Auburn, Alabama, Kinnucan's was founded in 1987 by Charles Kinnucan, who originally named his store On Your Feet because it primarily sold footwear, said Marketing Director Stephanie Garner.
"But as Kinnucan's expanded and grew, he changed the name to simply Kinnucan's," she said. "It's now more of a trendy lifestyle and outdoor store offering an affordable variety of products for those who might be going kayaking, hiking, swimming, back to school, etc., wherever life takes you."
Stacey Brady, Grand Boulevard's director of marketing and communications, said there is nothing like Kinnucan's in their market.
"Kinnucan's is a department store that carries everything needed to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. That may include camping, hunting or boating," she said. "They also carry great clothing and footwear for the entire family. We are excited for our Town Center customers to discover KSO."
The 10,000-square-foot store carries everything from kayaks and camping supplies to clothing and pool toys and to lip balm and sun block.
Bobby Lake now leads the company as president following Kinnucan's death and there are 19 Kinnucan stores across the southeast United States.
Garner said the decision to open a store in this area came down to following the growth.
"As Kinnucan's continued to expand throughout the Southeast, we knew we wanted to be in the state of Florida," she said. "Destin made sense geographically. The area has been growing at such a fast rate we really wanted to be part of that growth and Grand Boulevard lined up perfectly with our guest-focused philosophy. The lineup at Grand Boulevard is very attractive. We and the center believed our product mix would be a great addition."
Kinnucan's at Grand Boulevard is open every day from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. except Sundays, when it is open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
