ECTC calls for junior thespians

Calling all Emerald Coast junior thespians to find their place on the stage. Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) announces details of its fifth anniversary season of Educational Theatre Programming on the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast.

“Nothing warms my heart more that seeing the glow and smile of a child enjoying their time on the stage under the lights,” said ECTC producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher. “As ECTC enters its 5th season we are excited to offer Emerald Coast families a world class educational theatre experience with programs designed for elementary school children and more advanced programs for middle school children.”

The 2017-18 season will be presented in the Fall and Spring at ECTC’s performing space at 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Mirmar Beach, unless noted otherwise.

Auditions: The Addams Family Musical

Stage Crafters will hold auditions for its third and final production of the 2017 season, "The Addams Family," at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 and 16 at the Stage Crafters Rehearsal Hall, 40 Robinwood Drive in Fort Walton Beach. Check-in and scripts will be available at 6:30 p.m.

There are 10 characters plus an ensemble of singers and dancers needed. Ages for adult roles are flexible; Wednesday and Pugley should be in their 20s.

Performances will be held in November.

Call to Artists: Ruins

The Arts and Design Society is calling all artists to participate in their upcoming Ruins show, in which artwork, in any medium, will reflect the artist’s concept of ruins. Cash awards will be offered. Turn in work from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 5 or 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 6. Entry fee for members is $25 for two pieces and non-members pay $35 for two pieces. Call to Artist: Festival of the Arts Collaborative Exhibit

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation is accepting applications for the Adult Collaborative Art Exhibit component of the 22nd annual Festival of the Arts to be held Oct. 28-29 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin.

The exhibit showcases the work of seasoned and emerging adult artists and local student artists competing for the $600 McIlroy Awards given in honor of the late Patricia McIlroy, Destin’s first First Lady and an MKAF advocate and patron.

Artwork should be of an artistic caliber associated with a juried fine art show. Artists in the Adult Collaborative Exhibit can display and/or sell up to three pieces of artwork.  

The competition is open to the first 25 eligible applicants. The entry fee is $30 per person for up to three pieces of art. Application deadline is Sept. 8. To receive an application, email or call 850-650-2226.

Call to Artists: Northwest Florida Fair Fine Arts Show

The Arts and Design Society is calling all artists to participate in the upcoming 34th Northwest Florida Fair Fine Arts Show Sept. 26-30 at C.H. Bull Rigdon Fairgrounds and Recreation Complex, 1958 Lewis Turner Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach. The show is open to all artists, in any medium.

Artists must turn in works for the show on between noon and 5 p.m. Sept. 22 or 9 a.m. and noon Sept. 23. The entry fee for adults is $30 for up to five pieces; high school and middle school students pay $2 per piece and can submit up to five pieces.
