Arkansas tourist was swimming with family members at Henderson Beach State Park.
DESTIN — The 70-year-old woman who drowned while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico at Henderson Beach State Park on Monday has been identified.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, tourist Nori Brancho from Rogers, Arkansas, got into difficulty while swimming with family members at around 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Bystanders pulled the woman to shore after she reportedly got into an area where she could not touch the bottom and started to panic.
Bystanders attempted to revive the woman and started CPR until first responders arrived to continue lifesaving measures. EMS then took her to the Destin Emergency Room, but she did not survive.
The tragedy marks the third drowning in Destin in 2017.
