WALTON COUNTY — At least 20 cars were burglarized over the weekend in Walton County, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Corey Dobridnia.
All of the vehicles were left unlocked, she said.
Deputies are still gathering information on the burglaries.
Officials have been warning car owners to lock their vehicles across the three-county area. Opportunistic burglars have been stealing everything from cash to guns from unlocked cars.
"Help us help you," Sheriff Michael Adkinson said in a news release. "Hide your belongings. Take your keys. Lock your vehicles."
Sheriff's Office officials want firearm owners to know that they can store their weapons' information on Leads Online using ReportIt, at https://reportit.leadsonline.com/. ReportIt lets gun owners securely store serial numbers, item descriptions, pictures and scans of receipts so their weapons may be more easily identified if they ever become lost or stolen.
