NWFSC enrolls record number of students in RN program

Northwest Florida State College has 156 students enrolled in the nursing associate degree program, the largest in school history.

“Through the dedication and hard work of our outstanding faculty and staff and with the support of the College administration, we have been able to expand our ASN Program by accepting more students this fall than we ever have before,” said Director of Nursing Dr. Charlotte Kuss. “Additionally, through focused efforts on retention and success, we have the highest number of students who are beginning the second year of our program.”

The Associate in Nursing program at NWFSC has been awarded national accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Troy University announces Summer/Term 5 graduates

Troy University recently recognized students who completed the requirements for graduation during the summer semester and Term 5 of the 2016/2017 academic year.

Local resident James Anderson of Freeport received a bachelor of science in business administration;

The summer semester includes graduates from the Troy, Alabama, campus. Term 5 graduates include students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Alabama, along with teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

Foreman on Dean’s Honor Roll

Izabella Foreman of Santa Rosa Beach was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the Summer 2017 semester at the University of West Florida.

“This academic record comes about only as a result of hard work and commitment to high performance,” said Dean Michael Higgins.

Area student earns President’s List status

Mary Kate Clemmons of Santa Rosa Beach, a member of the class of 2017 at Washington and Lee University, has earned President’s List status for the recently ended academic year.

To achieve the President’s List, a student must be in the top 30 percent of Washington and Lee-attained credits and grades for the preceding year.

Gastroenterologist joins Sacred Heart Medical Group

Pediatric gastroenterologist Dr. Sheryl De Leon-Dial has joined Sacred Heart Medical Group’s regional physician network. De Leon-Dial will see patients at Sacred Heart Medical Group at The Market Shops, 9375 Emerald Coast Parkway W, Unit 1, in Miramar Beach.

Her arrival coincides with Sacred Heart’s new affiliation with University of Florida Health to provide an expanded range of specialized pediatric care.
