If you’re looking for a local music festival in a tranquil and picturesque environment, this year’s PorchFest at Watersound Origins has lined up some great bands for its second annual event, scheduled from 3-6 p.m. Oct. 8. The event is free to the public.

Come relax and listen to live music in a family-friendly community setting. Bring a lawn chair or spread a blanket on the lawn or in the park and let the kids throw Frisbees and turn cartwheels in the grass against the back splash of one of the most charming neighborhoods in Florida.

“Porchfests take place all over the country, and we felt that the Watersound Origins community’s tree lined trails, grassy parks, and front porches were the perfect backdrop for an event like this,” said St. Joe Marketing Manager Lanier Motes. “There is already so much local music talent in Northwest Florida – what better way to showcase many of them in one place.”

Last year’s PorchFest was blessed with beautiful clear blue skies and warm temperatures and attracted people from the Watersound Origins community as well folks from along the County Highway 30A corridor and even Panama City and Fort Walton Beach.

“We were really pleased with the interest and turnout for last year’s event and are so thankful to the Watersound Origins community and residents for supporting it,” Motes said. “Everyone seemed to have a great time last year and we expect this year to be just as much fun.”

This year will feature another Cornhole Tournament benefiting The Panama City Rescue Mission, and an Epic Photo Booth will be out and about snapping photos for attendees.

“We’ll have returning favorites like Sean Dietrich and the Boiled Peanut Band and Huck & Lilly, as well as many new artists,” Motes said. “New this year is songwriter and artist Chas Sandford. He’s known for penning hits like ‘Missing You’ by John Waits and ‘What Kind of Man Would I Be’ by Chicago. You also may have seen him at the 30A Songwriter’s Festival in previous years.”

PorchFest attendees will have options of different bands at various parks, front porches and front lawns throughout the neighborhood, including the following artists:

THE MUSICAL LINE-UP

Chas Sandford is a hit songwriter known for such songs as “Talk to Me” by Stevie Nicks as well as “Missing You” by John Waite, “What Kind of Man Would I Be” by Chicago. Sandford will be singing with Ken and Andi Johnson “in the round” on the “Songwriter House Concerts on 30A” Stage.

Huck and Lilly, a duo known for their fun, kid-friendly tunes and interactive performance, play for the little ones but keep the grown-ups entertained too.

Sean Dietrich and the Boiled Peanut Vendors, known for country and folk, feel-good music.

The Graytones, a popular, four-piece Gulf Coast funky jam band, are from Grayton Beach.

Matt Miller & Mari Gleason are a ukulele meets fiddle duo with a beachy flair.

Others include The Courtyard Saints, Shatzi + the String Boffin, and Chasin Jaymie. Maps will be provided so that guests can find each stage and where each band will perform.

“All are welcome,” Motes said. “Feel free to bring a chair and have a seat at one porch for the whole event – or roam around and check out all the different entertainment.”
