SANTA ROSA BEACH – A 29-year-old woman was charged with assaulting law enforcement officers and battering her grandmother, who is 89 years old.
When Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, they found the woman’s grandmother in bed and in obvious pain. She was being cared for by another relative who told deputies that the suspect went crazy for no reason and began throwing items.
One of the items, a picture frame, struck her grandmother in the ankle, which was bruised and swollen.
She also had three lacerations on her head.
Emergency Medical Services took the grandmother to the hospital and told deputies her ankle might be broken, according to the younger woman’s WCSO arrest report.
When deputies made contact with the suspect, she was crying and wouldn’t let deputies in the room.
Eventually the other family member opened the door for the deputies, but the suspect wouldn’t turn around or leave the room.
After about a minute, she bent over and pulled off her shorts, yelling vulgar words, according to the report.
At this time, a deputy grabbed and handcuffed her. As she was being led out of the room, she tried to kick the deputy.
