MIRAMAR BEACH — A 40-year-old man was sent to jail after he admitted to beating his wife over a period of several days.
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast on Oct. 7 in reference to a domestic disturbance. Once there, deputies spoke with a woman who said her husband had been “battering her periodically for the past few days.” She said the day before he “man handled” her, causing injuries to her ribs.
A deputy noted bruises on her right eye and cheek bone, injuries to her right rib cage and bruises and cuts to her right arm.
The victim’s husband acknowledged domestic violence was an “ongoing issue” in their home and that “he is aware of his anger and that he uses it to lash out and take out his frustration on (his wife).”
The man was arrested on charges of battery domestic violence touch or strike, a misdemeanor, and taken to the Walton County Jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
