The First Northwest Florida Family History Fair is coming on March 3, 2018, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 339 Lake Drive in Fort Walton Beach. This is a free event from the Latter-day Saints Church, which has the most extensive family history/genealogy records in the world.

The topics are many and varied, the presenters are experienced, talented and knowledgeable and will offer something for everyone. The event will begin at 9 a..m. and end at noon, and is divided into three 40-minute sessions. The first period includes Family Secret Agent, Military Records, European Records, Making an Oral Life History, Writing a Personal History, Basic Family Search, Family Search Indexing and Best of the Rest Records.

Classes offered in the second session are DNA , Google Earth for Genealogists, European Research, African-American Research, Making an Oral Life History, Basic Family Search, Primary and Secondary Sources and Best Internet Sites for Genealogy. The final hour includes Advanced Family Search Doc, Military Records, DNA, African-American Research, Favorite Family History Internet Sites, Family Search Indexing, Writing a Personal History and Land Records.

Among the presenters are Tom and Irene Price, who many met last year. The Prices have dedicated their time to the training of folks in the art of family history since November of 2015. Using their RV they travel their territory from southern Alabama to Northwest Florida, hauling their equipment with them, giving presentations to all who have a desire to learn about their family tree. In 2016, they gave 94 presentations to about 1,000 people. They are part of the senior volunteers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who devote 18 months and more of their lives to serving others. The Price team is from Rexburg, Idaho, and has worked in the field of genealogy/family history for six years before this assignment. They are the parents of nine children and 26 grandchildren.
