Alys Beach has announced the upcoming unveiling of the town's Alys Beach Fitness Center, which is touted to be just as unique and intriguing as the rest of the community.
The fitness center was designed by Birmingham-based architect Louis Nequette. Nequette said the design will be very much in keeping with the energy and unique feel of Alys Beach.
"The center will have unique roof lines and we have formed inner court yards that bring in natural light," said Nequette.
The building will have 15,000-square feet of indoor space featuring a lift room, cardio, movement room, spin, a recovery room for yoga, indoor fitness and treatment rooms. All equipment will be state-of-the-art.
There will also be an indoor recreational pool, a steam room, and a room for massage therapy.
The center will offer fitness classes including yoga, spin, and suspension training.
A second-floor cardio area and outdoor covered pool will be onsite.
The amount of natural light and how the indoor and outdoor can be connected makes it unique, said Nequette.
Outdoors, space will include a 12,800-square-foot courtyard and a 595-square-foot exercise terrace at the second level.
"This will be a major amenity for Alys where they could even hold functions," said Nequette. "It would be perfect for special training workshops. The outdoor shade will allow for outdoor classes and there will be space for tents for private gatherings."
The center will look like most of the Alys houses, but take the concept and magnify it, said Nequette, giving the appearance of a primary place.
Located at the corner of North Castle Harbour Drive and Nonesuch Way, Alys Beach Fitness Center is projected to open in the fall of 2018.
