The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation and co-presenters Destin Assembly of God, Destin United Methodist Church, St. Peter Catholic Church and Village Baptist Church will present the 22nd annual Sounds of the Season at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Village Baptist Church, 101 Matthew Blvd. in Destin.

Admission is a donation of a new unwrapped child’s toy to be distributed among the participating church’s outreach ministries to provide a brighter Christmas for families in need during the holidays. A love offering at intermission will benefit the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s community outreach initiatives benefiting students, adults and children with special needs, at risk youth and wounded warriors with visible and invisible injuries in Okaloosa and Walton counties.

This year’s concert will feature guest artist Sarah Simmons Langston, and accompanying her on stage will be her husband Greg. In 2013, Sarah performed on NBC's "The Voice," resulting in all four chairs turning and advancing her to the final eight contestants. She majored in voice and worship leadership at the University of Mobile before transferring to the Memphis-based Visible Music College.

The Mattie Kelly Community Chorus represents a diverse group of men and women from several local churches and residents in our community. The chorus is open to all members of the community, including area church choir members and winter residents. To participate, please join a rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the Destin United Methodist Church choir room or at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the Village Baptist Church choir room.

A group rehearsal will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 18, at Village Baptist Church. A final rehearsal will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at Village Baptist.
