FREEPORT — A drunk girlfriend angry at her boyfriend’s arrest was arrested herself for battery on a law enforcement officer.

Deputies from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the couple’s home in reference to a domestic disturbance on Nov. 9, according to the woman’s arrest report. While en route, deputies learned the boyfriend had an active warrant out for his arrest.

When they arrived at the home along with Walton County Fire Rescue EMS personnel and attempted to investigate the disturbance and provide medical treatment, the boyfriend became “very uncooperative” and had to be held down on a sofa bed by a deputy. While two law enforcement officers were holding the man down, his 43-year-old girlfriend struck the deputies from behind with her hand, causing one of the deputy’s glasses to fly off his face.

Her report stated she “was intoxicated and got upset when officers were placing (her boyfriend) under arrest.”

The woman was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, a felony.
