SANTA ROSA BEACH — A man was arrested on battery charges after trying to get his fiancé in his car after she told him she would walk home from Seaside to Fort Walton Beach due to an argument.
According to an arrest report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, on Nov. 10 witnesses in Watercolor saw a man “dragging a woman into a car” and the woman crying and screaming “No!”
Deputies first made contact with the woman, who said her fiancé wouldn’t let her walk home and pulled her by her left arm in an attempt to get her into his vehicle, even though she did not want to get into his vehicle. As she was being pulled into the car, someone yelled to the man, “Let her go!” and he left in his blue Honda Accord.
Deputies then made contact with the man, who said he and his fiancé had gotten into a verbal argument in their car near Seaside and she decided to walk all the way home to Fort Walton Beach (approximately 32 miles). He followed her in the car and tried to physically put her in the car by grabbing her shoulders and wrist.
The man was charged with domestic violence.
