DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A dispute between a man, a woman and the man’s mother over the couple’s baby led to the man getting arrested for domestic violence.

On Nov. 9, Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived to a DeFuniak Springs home in reference to a domestic disturbance. A dispatcher on the 911 call heard the female caller saying “You (expletive) hit me” and believed people were actively fighting.

Upon arrival, the mother of a 26-year-old man told deputies her son’s girlfriend had struck her in the face with a fist following an argument about the couple’s young child and who would take her. The girlfriend, however, said her boyfriend’s mother attacked her.

At one point, the girlfriend was calling 911 and her boyfriend grabbed her from behind, attempting to grab the phone from her. He told her “he pays the phone bill and it’s his so she couldn’t call anyone.” He successfully hung up the phone on 911. The girlfriend then bit him in an attempt to get him to release her.

The boyfriend had bite marks on his arm consistent with his girlfriend’s story. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.
