DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A man who just wanted to be left alone with his plain bagel was arrested for battery after slapping his wife in the face for bothering him and his bagel.
According to an arrest report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, on Nov. 9 deputies responded to a DeFuniak Springs residence in reference to a domestic battery. A woman told deputies she and her husband had just finished making bagels for breakfast, and she went to put cream cheese on both bagels.
The man, however, was angry that she wanted to put cream cheese on his bagel, so he “went outside with his bagel to be alone.” The wife went outside to let the dog out and speak with her husband, at which time he “open hand slapped the victim in the face.”
When asked what happened, the husband admitted to slapping his wife and said he “just wanted to be left alone to cool down.” The victim had a red mark on her face and cream cheese in her hair.
The man was arrested and charged with battery – domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
