SANTA ROSA BEACH — A man was arrested after pushing down a woman on the beach because he thought she was in possession of one of his stolen tables.

According to an arrest report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Ed Walline Beach Access on County Road 30A in reference to a physical disturbance. A woman told deputies she was at the beach with her boyfriend when the 42-year-old man approached them and began arguing with them over who owned one of the tables the woman had brought to the beach.

The woman said the man snatched the table and when she yelled at him, he pushed her down into the sand. Several independent witnesses corroborated the woman’s story.

When deputies approached the man, he said, “I know I messed up, I shouldn’t have pushed her,” and asked if he could apologize. He said the table belonged to his rental company and had gone missing several weeks ago.

The owner of the table was unable to be determined.

The man was arrested and charged with battery - touch or strike.
