FREEPORT – An air conditioner repairman helped save a local woman from further domestic abuse when he loaned her his cell phone during a service call.
The woman had broken bones from a Thanksgiving Day attack.
Her husband, a 27-year-old Freeport man, had been banned from contact with her but had moved her back into his house again, according to his Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
The woman told deputies that her left foot was broken from the holiday attack. On Dec. 1 he forced her out of their shared bed, further injuring her foot, the report said.
The repairman confirmed that he’d been at the house for two days and that both of the spouses had been there. He said he had heard them arguing.
The husband was charged with violating pre-trial release conditions.
