MOSSY HEAD — Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a residential fire on Patch Road and found a fully engulfed mobile home Friday.

Crews arrived at the fire just after 9:30 a.m. Friday and attempted to extinguish the blaze encompassing the home of a Walton County family, according to a WCFR  press release.

The residents made it out of the mobile home safely and no injuries were reported.

The family's dog, a chihuahua and dachshund mix, died in the fire along with a pet blue jay. The family was able to rescue one of their dogs, the release said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it's believed the fire may have been caused by a lamp that fell onto a bed, the press release said.

The American Red Cross was called out to assist the family.
