DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A 22-year-old man was arrested on several felonies after punching a nurse and breaking her nose.

According to a Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, on Dec. 30 the man was at Healthmark Hospital when he “struck a female nurse in the face with his fist, causing the nurse’s nose to break.” The blow also caused the nurse to fall to the ground, where she hit her head on the tile floor and got a laceration that required stitches.

The man was later located on U.S. Highway 331 near the hospital and a syringe was found in his left front pocket. Deputies also found a small black case on the ground near the hospital emergency room that contained six grams of methamphetamine. Security camera footage revealed the case had belonged to the man.

The DeFuniak Springs man was charged with aggravated battery on a firefighter/EMT/etc., drug equipment possession and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
