Emerald Coast Theatre Company invites theater lovers of all ages to find their place on the stage. ECTC has announced details for its 2018 Spring Classes, which offer “something for everyone.”

“We started with education outreach for children and now we are thrilled to add a few new programs designed for adults and seniors,” said ECTC producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher. “It is our mission to serve the needs of everyone in our community — and that means all ages — and we hope our enhanced offerings for Spring 2018 do just that.”

The roster of seven different theater programs for Spring 2018 includes:

ECTC Little Rascals Program

“Once Upon A Rhyme”

Join the Little Rascals, Pre-K to first grade (4-6 years), for a good old-fashioned romp as they bring our favorite bedtime story characters off the page and onto the stage from 3:30-4:20 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 16 to March 13. Designed specifically for its youngest players, ECTC’s Little Rascals class focuses on activities that allow students to explore acting, singing and movement in an energetic, nurturing environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. This class culminates with a mini play and music performance on the last day of class.

ECTC Kids Program

Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka Kids”

The timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir is a golden ticket to adventure for third through fifth graders from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and for first through third graders from 4-6 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 9 to April 14. Final performances will be held April 20 and 21.

Students in grades three through five will concentrate on acting techniques to create strong characters while rehearsing the non-musical play “In the Forest Grim” by Cate Fricke from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesdays Jan. 17 to May 16. The final performance will be a part of the Northwest Florida Theatre Festival on May 19.

Lessons will include acting exercises with concentration on strong character development, critical thinking lessons using improvisation to create their own version or extensions of fables, and a final performance on the ECTC Stage at the NWFL Theatre Festival on May 19.
