Roland Curtis Campbell of Freeport was the subject of a manhunt earlier in January.

The subject of a manhunt by the Walton County Sheriff's Office earlier this month is behind bars.

According to a Facebook post by WCSO, Roland Curtis Campbell, 24, of Freeport, was arrested Sunday morning after another attempt to elude arrest.

Campbell was wanted in a violation of probation warrant on an original charge of lewd and lascivious behavior on a child between the ages of 12 and 16.

On Jan. 4, deputies attempted to serve a warrant for Campbell's arrest at a residence on Joe Campbell Road in Freeport when he fled on foot into nearby woods.

It took 10 days, but public tips helped lead the Sheriff's Office to a Walton County residence where Campbell was taken into custody.

He is currently being held in the Walton County Jail without bond on a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence and probation violation of a felony charge on the sex offense.
